Healthy snacks to enjoy while working from home

Written by Victoria Chong

As working from home becomes a more cemented reality for people everywhere, there is one ever-evolving issue that needs solving: what should I snack on? Proximity to your kitchen and pantry makes access to your food a lot more convenient, but what exactly should you eat when the mid-afternoon hunger strikes and you want to snack on something healthy, filling, but also delicious?

In this healthy snack guide we give you three delicious options to fill your WFH snacking requirements.

A bowl of porridge

Whoever said that porridge should only be for breakfast clearly has more self-control than us! Eaten at any point of time in the day, a bowl of porridge is a great way to satisfy your cravings in a hearty and delectable way. Our favourite is eimele’s Kakadu, Pineapple & Coconut Porridge. Packed full of ingredients like shredded coconut, chia seeds, and Australian oatmeal, it allows you to soak up some fibre and protein, all in one bowl!

A nutritionally balanced snack, there’s only 205 calories in a serving
, and it’s free from any artificial flavours or GMOs. Fixing it up for yourself couldn’t be easier, too. Coming in convenient individual sachets, all you have to do is add hot water and mix. It’s perfect for those days when you’re dashing in and out of Zoom meetings Plus, it’s tasty to boot.

Honey-drizzled yoghurt

We all value the days of paying for a visually stunning (yet gloriously overpriced) bowl of yoghurt at a beach-front eatery, but did you know that the café experience is something that you can replicate right within your own home? Grab your favourite yoghurt, cut up some fresh fruit like berries, bananas, or grapes, and top with a healthy scoop of granola for some added crunch and nutrition. Our secret? We like to drizzle honey on top, adding sweetness and depth to the otherwise quite light flavour.

We’re not just using any old honey, either: We find ourselves always reaching in our pantry for Bee+ Manuka Honey. Sourced from remote native forests in New Zealand, this 100% natural honey is rich with flavour and benefits. Defined by a Unique Manuka Factor (UMF) ratings, the higher the number, the higher the level of potent antibacterial compounds. With a deeper colour, a bolder flavour, and several health benefits, Manuka honey is an optimum addition to your snacking needs. Scooping a good dollop onto your yoghurt bowl is a tasty, sweet, and healthy way to boost your WFH treat!

Meal replacement shakes

Some days you may find yourself being stretched even thinner than usual. For those days when you’re really pressed for time, what could be more efficient than a meal replacement shake? All you need to do is add water, shake well, and enjoy. Eimele’s Chocolate Replacement Shakes always seem to hit the spot for us. Plant-based and high in protein, these meal replacement shakes will not only help any peckish, sweet cravings that you have throughout the day, but they can also assist with making you feel full and energised for longer.

A blend of brown rice protein, prebiotic dietary fibre and vitamins C, D2, E and more, the mix of gut-loving fibre and delicious chocolate flavour will help you push through any 3pm blues. It’s substantial enough to fill you up, while also not being too heavy that you feel sluggish at your desk. There’s even a range of other flavours available, so feel free to switch them up throughout the week!
