5 skincare tricks to get more out of your skincare routine

Written by Chelsea Tromans

There’s a reason dermatologists need a degree to do their jobs: Skincare is complicated! Every day there seems to be a new skincare product, ingredient or tip popping up. While getting a good basic skincare routine in place is a great starting point, there are plenty of handy tricks worth knowing that can help improve your routine and results. Here are just a few skincare tips to help you get more out of your regimen.

Don’t forget your neck

Just like your face, your neck could benefit from a quality skincare cream. A loss of skin firmness and crepiness are common problems for the neck area so look for a formula that addresses your specific concerns. We love Minenssey Rejuvenating Face & Neck Cream because the one product can be used on your face and neck so you don’t need to worry about using an additional product - you just need to remember to extend the cream beyond your jaw line!

Apply the right amount of product

While products come with instructions on how to apply them, they don’t always specify how much product to apply. Between all the steps in your skincare routine, it can be hard to keep track of how much formula you should apply per product. That’s why we love ampoules like Amilera Hyaluronic Acid Serum. They come pre-packaged with the perfect dosage amount, taking the guesswork out of the process. Minenssey Clay Mask Skin Revival Set is another great option. It contains nine masks which have been pre-portioned into the perfect application amount.

Make your daily water intake more enticing

Do you struggle to drink enough water throughout the day? Water isn’t exactly the most exciting liquid to drink, plus, when your day gets busy it can be easy to forget to get in the recommended amount per day. Firstly, get yourself a large water bottle to carry with you throughout the day. The more colourful the better - you want to notice it! Put it on your desk where you can clearly see it to help remind yourself to sip throughout the day. Secondly, try flavouring your water to make it more palatable. You could throw in some lemon or cucumber slices, or mix in a flavoured collagen supplement like Vida Glow Marine Collagen. It comes in numerous flavours - Blueberry, Peach, Pineapple, Mango, Cranberry & Lime, and Mocha - so you’re sure to find one that works for you.

Use a sunscreen year-round

When the sun is beaming down on you in summer, it’s the perfect reminder to slip, slop, slap. Whereas on those cool, gloomy days of winter, it’s easy to forget. But sunscreen needs to be a part of your skincare routine 365 days a year. Find a so it becomes a natural final step in your daily skincare routine. Then, pop a second one in your handbag for when you need to re-apply.

Customise your sheet mask to fit

Sheet masks are designed to be a one-size-fits-all design. And while you’ll find most come pretty close to fitting your face, there’s probably room for improvement. That’s where this nifty hack comes in handy: Cut some strategic slits in the sheet so it is easier to mould it around all the contours of your face. Start by cutting a few centimetres inwards just below the temples. Next, make a cut from the outer corner of your nose towards the eye hole (but not all the way). This will help the mask to better fit around the curves of your nose. Finally, make a slit in the mask where it meets the centre of your chin. Sheet mask to try: Minenssey Nutritious Skin Treatment Mask
